Birdsongs serve equally as territory marking, as well as attraction for females and as binding ritual. Some bird species, for certain, can only be distinguished by their calls. Several authors translated these into a written form, to make them understandable. This compilation of onomatopeic love-poetry was taken from relevant ornithological field guides.
